Each calcite table lamp is undergoing more than 10 handcrafted processes even after machine cutting and turning, plus the calcite body is artisan crafted with meticulous care, to achieve a smooth touch and look through of the crystal formation inside. Owing to variations in natural material and hand craftsmanship, no two are alike. Natural variations in calcite structure and natural colors add to the unique beauty of each piece.
Calcite is the form of natural calcium carbonate (CaCO3), a natural mineral known for the beautiful development and great variety of its crystals texture. It’s colorless or white when pure but may be of almost any color owing to the presence of diverse impurities. It may be transparent, translucent, or opaque. Its lustre ranges from vitreous to dull.
Not every calcite mineral can be turned into a lamp, most of them is in small piece and scattered over the mine, only those formed as big block in high mountain which is transparent or translucent can be selected for lighting products.
