To make sure your child fits lots of blooms, we created this flower press kit for children which measures 18cm (7 inch) x 18cm (7 inch). It is small and light enough to carry around and take on exploration adventures, but large enough to press many flowers and leaves at any one time. Is pressing flowers the same as using flower drying kit? Yes and no. Flower drying is a process of removing moisture from blooms using silica gel. The flowers retain most of their shape. Flower pressing also removes the moisture by gently squeezing out the "juices" into the blotting paper in a natural way i.e. without silica gel or a microwave. The pressed flowers are flat which allows you to add them to lots of arts and crafts projects. Flower preservation using a "retro flower press" (that is wooden flower press kits) is on the rise again to help children experience nature in a different way and preserve it. Can my child use this dried flower press for ferns and foliage too? Most certainly! In fact, another name for a press flower kit is a "leaf pressing kit" so it is perfect to press foliage too.
