This is true American made stuff and will last forever! The stud is 6061 aluminum (Read: plenty strong but still softer than the frame of the vehicle so that it cannot damage anything.) The studs for our plate mount are designed over-sized so that they do not vibrate loose, and you will want (NEED!) tools to install it. The plate backing is 12 gauge steel that is treated and powder coated to prevent rust and color fading. It has enough thickness to make it completely solid (ordinary humans cannot bend the plate backing with by hand), but once installed you will be able to adjust the angle of the tab with just your hands. The included hardware is all stainless steel, with button heads for a clean look once installed.
This updated version of the Platypus has a key-hole feature in the backplate that makes it very easy to remove without having to take your license plate off. Use the included low-profile wrench to slightly loosen the bolt that attaches the backplate, then slide the backplate off of the stud. The plate is balanced to ensure that even if it were to come loose accidentally, it would still hang on the stud so that your plate does not fall off.
NOTE: The included hardware is just the right length for a plate, and not long enough to also mount a plate frame. Contact CravenSpeed for longer bolts or specs for your friendly local hardware supplier.

This kit includes an extra bracket that will allow the plate to be mounted lower on the grill. It's a sleeker look and doesn't interfere with the headlights.
