What is brown noise? Brown noise sounds somewhat similar to white noise, except that brown noise has a lot more bass and less "hiss" (white noise sound can sound very harsh in comparison). Technically speaking, brown noise is characterized by a 6 decibel roll-off in amplitude per octave (please see the picture gallery for spectrum analysis).
What can brown noise be used for? The gentle sound of brown noise can be used to block or reduce distractions, improve mental focus, and help promote sleep (the waterfall-like sound of brown noise can be very soothing).
