Item consists of TWO separate deck pieces! The Roma only had wood planking at the stern; this deck will allow you to model a realistic surface in that area.
You can read about the technology that makes our decks unique at our main site at scaledecks.com. In short, they are incredibly thin, with very detailed printing of features. Our decks are backed with thermal fleece allowing you to use your choice of adhesives.
Decks come in a color choice of Natural Teak and Tinted. Most naval ships use Teak due to its great resistance to weather. If you are doing a diorama and want the deck to look darker because it is wet, then Teak would be a better choice. Some modelers prefer a lighter wood to present a good scale effect of a sun-bleached and weathered deck and our lighter Tinted deck would be a better choice in these circumstances. Decks are precision measured and cut to 1/100 of an inch accuracy, and all of our decks are custom tested on actual plastic kits.
This deck is fully compatible with etched brass detail sets, and can bring your model to an amazing level of realism. Our genuine Laser Cut Wood Decks are manufactured FOR scale modelers BY scale modelers.

Our decks are incredibly thin - less than 1/100 of an inch - or not much thicker than a heavy coat of paint. This allows you to glue them right on top of the plastic deck provided in the kit. Since the wood decks are backed with thermal fleece to provide strength across the grain, this allows you to use your choice of adhesives.
At scaledecks.com, we do not burn in a plank pattern using the laser onto a grainy piece of wood, as we have found this to result in an unnatural appearance with heavy, chocolaty-brown lines on the deck. Instead, we actually print with inks on a light-grained piece of wood from an Aspen tree, and simulate individual plank tint variations. This is detail that simply cannot be achieved with a normal laser-cutting manufacturing process, and the resulting detail is unmatched anywhere else in the industry.
