Simple Steps to Use the Boost Leak Tester:
- With engine off, remove intake off supercharger inlet
- Remove oil cap to vent any excess crankcase pressure from the boost leak test.
- Install boost leak tester and clamp down
- Regulate compressor and pressurize with 5 PSI to start. Boost gauge will show the actual pressure in the system.
- Listen for leaks. Use soapy spray water to identify small leaks that are not audible.
- Retest to 10 PSI and move up in every 5 increments up to 20 PSI
- Tip: When stopping or removing the air source, watch the boost gauge on the tester to see how fast or slow it bleeds. A good system will hold pressure and leak at a rate of 1 PSI/second. That is normal since some air will pass into the cylinder and past the piston rings and into the crankcase.
