This is my husband’s 2nd Darwin grip. He loved the operating ease it offered the first time; in addition to the added stability in handling it made possible. So when getting this one there was no question what brand he would choose.

The Darwins grip pro is a great idea and it has potential. I wish the handle had a bend at the grip as opposed to the 90 degree cut and welded handle. I have found that while mowing a bank on my left side, the grip is very uncomfortable. I also found that mounting it as described in the instructions puts the handle in an awkward position causing forearm fatigue. I mounted mine off to the side with the grip being located about 2 inches left of center. It is much better here. I plan on cutting mine apart and fabricating a more ergonomic grip.

Nice, easy install. Why doesn't stock weed eaters come with these?

Good instructions, easy to install - took me about 10 minutes to get it on my trimmer and adjusted to my liking. The product itself feels very high quality, but also light weight enough that it's not fatiguing to have on your trimmer. I'm a taller guy and this is a must for me when trimming for more than just a few minutes. Saves my back and just makes trimming way more pleasant overall.

I work in the landscaping industry, I’ve seen this product before and decided to give it a shot. The plastic stabilizer thing broke an hour into using it. It’s ok but takes a bit to get used to as to getting the angles right. But time will tell I suppose

It's labeled and advertised as the real thing but one of the fastening U-bolts cracked while we were installing (screwed not too tight) and I would assume and hope the real one doesn't do that. The Crack wasn't super detrimental and with the help of some zip ties and electrical tape it's holding up just fine with use. As far as using its been a back saver and has helped so much!

If you’ve got back issues like me, this is the best attachment you’ll ever buy. I keep one on my edger and my trimmer. I’m not fatigued at the end of my day from running equipment anymore. I should add, these are great for us shorter guys. I’m 5’9” and it works wonders.

Would’ve gave more stars but due to plastic being broke should’ve been in new plastic.

BIG difference from the stock trimmer. Started using it once I installed it and couldn’t stop! Almost mowed my entire back yard with my trimmer because of the comfort in my back position.

Ordered this as a gift for my son's birthday. I didn't bother opening the Amazon box until the day before his birthday. To my disappointment, the plastic packaging was all crumbled and the product was half way out the packaging. Luckily there wasnt any extra small pieces bc the Amazon box wasn't even completely sealed closed. As for the Darwin's grip, there hasn't been any complaints.

Let me start with the fact that I'm 6'4. I've never had a string trimmer that didn't kill my back. The installation was easy. The added pivot brace seems cheesy, but it seems to work. Now my trimmer doesn't wear me out. It makes controlling the trimmer way more stable as well. I should have bought one of these years ago.

If you are tall and you hunch for edging/weeding, save the back pain and get this. Easily install. If you watch some videos online they give good advice on starting offset degrees (like a 10 o’clock setup) for install that make it feel more natural. I was stupid for going all these years without one and just dealing with a sore back. Btw, I am using on an ego power stick for both edger and trimmer extensions, but it can be collapsed easy enough when using pole saw or other stuff (unless it helps there also).

I just bought a new line trimmer for our new big yard. First time I used it I lasted 35 minutes before I had to quit because my back hurt so bad. Then a buddy told me about the Darwin and how it saved is back, and his was several generations old! Bottom line is with my new Darwin I can go 3 1/2 hours no problem and trim the whole property in one shot - and with no pain later either! I wish Darwin made something like this for my golf clubs so I go 36 holes with no pain!

A quick note. This is one tool helper you’ll be happy you invested in! It’s well worth the investment. It is very well made and it comes with everything you need to install it to your wacker, twelve feet of line to get you started. It makes the swinging of your wacker so much easier and a big difference on your back and arms. MR.BILL 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Like many other people, I have been struggling with my trimmer as the stock handle does not help much if you are 6.1ft and using a strap to save your back is not the entire solution. This product is no joke, it is a game changer, I have used it twice already and I felt the difference... or should I say, my back and my arms felt the difference: no more back ache or sore arms even with extended periods of use. I am very happy with this expense and it should have existed a lot earlier!! This thing should be stock with any new trimmer, really!!

Its a chunk of change. Took me a couple paydays thinking about it. Glad I did. Makes a big difference in posture for my stihl fs56. Could not get the hoop handle anywhere where it would be comfortable for me.Im 5' 8" not sure who stihl designed their hoop handle straight shafts for, maybe 5' people. Anyhow, I think I got the 6.0, looks like they are onto a new version now. Mine came with 2 of the elbow parts. Def have to crank it down all the way or its gonna move. Elbow hasnt broken yet and I got the spare. Prob got 6 hours on it. If you got stihl straight shaft with a hoop handle, get it, your back will thank you.

This is the real deal from the manufacturer. I ordered in July and received the latest version of the Darwin's grip which is the yellow high visibility "pro" model. Did not install the saddle brace because it is kind of flimsy and it is sturdy enough without it. It fits my Husqvarna 525L and my Echo SRM-225 without any modification with the new redesigned clamp. I'm tall and it is a real back saver for extended use. You still gotta use your head using the Darwin Grip. Don't over tighten the screws because you will strip the aluminum housing. Don't bump your trimmer too hard because you will break the aluminum handle. A bit pricy for what it is and kind of hard to source. But overall, would buy it again!

OVERVIEW: I'm 6'1" tall, and I use a Stihl FS91R trimmer. Prior to purchasing the "Darwin's Grip" handle, I had moved the D-handle all the way up, right next to the strap holder (after I'd cut away and discarded the plastic hand grip thing that came with 91R). Still, I found myself bending over more than I wished. So I went in search of a solution, and I found the "Darwin's Grip." I do a fair bit of string trimming per week: 10+ hours every week on a hilly, rock-strewn property in West Virginia.SUMMARY: after about six hours of mowing with the Darwin's Grip, I find it is definitely what it advertises to be: a way to remain standing more upright as I use the trimmer. It is definitely a positive addition to my FS91R. I rate this a 5-star product.INSTALLATION: not that challenging. I heeded the advice to avoid over-tightening the hex bolts. I snugged them down, but I did not crank hard on the bolts. It wasn't necessary: snugged down is all that's needed to hold the thing in place.POSITIONING: as others have noted, this will take some fiddling with to get it right for your preferences. For example, the pictures showed the handle on top of the trimmer shaft, at the "12 o'clock" position relative to shaft as you hold the trimmer. I found it more comfortable on my left arm (I'm right handed: I trigger with right and use my left on the handle) to rotate the whole assembly to the left so the handle is at about the 10:30 or 11 o'clock position. Just that little bit helped quite a bit. Expect the initial install to be an approximation, with fine-tuning of position to follow. Also, some "muscle memory" my need to be re-learned to use the new handle naturally. For me that took about an hour.QUALITY/WEIGHT: the whole assembly is very light weight, and I don't notice any difference with my FS91R (14lb machine) with this installed. It seems fairly sturdy, but I would not jerk on the handle, nor push down on it hard. With just normal pressures to control the trimmer this should be just fine. As others have noted, the weak spot in this is the toothed-swivel that allows adjustment of the handle up/down from the trimmer shaft. Again, normal pressures and it'll be fine; aggressive jerking, or pushing down hard would be a problem.VALUE FOR MONEY: the item is $70+ with tax, and at first blush that seems high. But in my early testing of this I've discovered two things: (1) my back is no longer fatigued; and (2) because my back is no longer fatigued, I take fewer pauses, which means my mowing gets done more quickly. Preliminary estimates has the time savings in the 20% to 30% range. So, for me, the $70+ expenses is forgotten, and now I'm enjoying the benefits.

It seems to do the job as expected but it takes a lot of tinkering to get the right fit for you. If you are busy a Ego multi head unit, this device will attach to the HEAD not the Ego shaft (gigidy) so unless you are willing to reattach in every head swap or buy this attachment for each tool, this is not ideal for Ego. I have one heavy rotary scissor so I leave it on that and that's it. I do not recommend this, AT THIS PRICE, unless you are edging, weed eating a quarter acre+ or you have a lawn service doing this all day. Not a bad product but over kill and over priced for relatively small yards due to the gains being JUST noticable at that size.
